Bio
Along with Britney, Mandy and Christina, Willa Ford was part of the late 90's teen pop star explosion.
Willa Ford was set to be the next Britney Spears in the late 90's, but music tastes changed and with a market saturated with blonde pop-stars, Ford nearly got lost in the shuffle. Luckily, she was able to bounce back and can now be seen on near countless TV shows.
Before becoming pop star, Ford was singing in a children's choir that toured around the country. Her obvious talents soon got the attention of record companies who wanted to cash in on the recent pop music explosion of the 1990's. Ford's first single, Lullaby, was featured on the soundtrack to the first Pokemon film in 1999, and she wrote the song herself, in a mere 30-minutes. At the time, Ford was performing under the name Mandah, but record execs soon asked her to change her name so it won't be confused with Mandy Moore.
In 2000, to help promote her first album Willa Was Here, Ford toured with the Backstreet Boys, and began dating the Nick Carter, a move that didn't go over well with Backstreet's fan-base. Her album contained the single, "I Wanna Be Bad." The song not only recived heavy rotation on MTV and on the radio, but it was used on three different movie soundtracks: Undercover Brother, What A Girl Wants and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. The song was also used for Six Flags Amusement Park's ad campaign.
Despite the airplay and exposure, audiences and critics seemed tired of the pop-star phenomena, and Ford decided to focus on hosting shows instead of music. She became a semi-regular host on MTV's TRL, she hosted the 2002 Miss Teen USA Pageant, and hosted The Ultimate Fighter in 2005. She was also a contestant on Dancing With the Stars.
Ford attempted to release a second album, which she wanted to be title Porn Poetry, but her record label scoffed at the idea saying the Walmart wouldn't put an album with that title on the shelf. Though she recorded several songs, the album was never released, and she left her record label in 2005.
Willa Ford returned to the spotlight in 2005 when she hosted the first season of the fighting competition reality show, The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. This led to a short lived relationship with Chuck Liddell. The show aired between January 18 and April 9, 2005. After the show's finale, the 24 year old singer was contracted as a summer's guest doll performer for the Las Vegas shows of The Pussycat Dolls. Ford was later featured as the June celebrity on FHM's 2005 pin-up calendar. In early 2006, Willa Ford played as one of the four celebrity quarterbacks for the Lingerie Bowl which was shown during the halftime of Super Bowl XL.
In that same year following the Super Bowl, the pop starlette proved to America how bad she really wanted to be by posing nude for the March 2006 issue of Playboy. This was the same issue that was plagued with controversy over the alleged misuse of Jessica Alba's image for the cover. Ford mentioned in an interview that it changed her life and the whole experience was very liberating.
